Simplified SPC
Course Description: The
Simplified SPC course is intended for operators, quality managers,
engineers, and technicians who are in a position to identify the need
for, use, and interpret SPC charts and who are interested in promoting
the use of SPC in their organizations. Hands-on activities
will be used to demonstrate real problems and solutions.
Students will learn to:
Determine when, where, and why SPC tools should be used.
Distinguish between common cause and special cause variation.
Create, maintain, and interpret Shewhart SPC charts for
attribute and variable data.
Distinguish between control and tolerance limits.
Calculate and interpret process capability statistics.
Prerequisites: Students
are expected to have basic knowledge of the mathematical operations
required to calculate simple statistics and control chart limits.
Contact Hours: Twelve (12),
usually in three four-hour sessions.
